Notapterocis megastictus sp. n., the first species of Notapterocis Lawrence, 2016 from the Ethiopian region is described based on individuals collected in Vryheid, in the KwaZulu-Natal Province and Wolkberg, in Limpopo Province, Republic of South Africa. The species can be distinguished from all other described species of the genus by the dorsal vestiture consisting of short bristles, comparatively coarser dorsal punctation, and first abdominal ventrite at least three times as long as the second ventrite.
