On September 26, Yang Jiechi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Office of Foreign Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, attended the opening ceremony of the second CAETE and Forum on China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation in Changsha, Hunan Province.

In his speech, Yang Jiechi said

China and Africa are good friends, partners, and brothers who share the same destiny and share the same aspirations. President Xi Jinping proposed that China will apply the principles of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith and uphold the values of the greater good and shared interest in conducting its relations with Africa. He is committed to promoting the building of a better China-Africa community with a shared future, which has led to increasingly solid political mutual trust between China and African countries. China and African countries have made great achievements in various fields, including trade and investment, infrastructure construction, and emerging industries.

Yang Jiechi said

CAETE has become a new platform to promote the implementation of the economic and trade initiatives of the FOCAC and a new window for economic and trade cooperation between Chinese cities and African countries. China will continue to support African countries in joining together with each other, support the economic and social development of African countries, and strengthen strategic relationships with African countries. China will join hands with African countries in combating epidemic diseases, deepening economic and trade cooperation, and following a path of green development and connectivity and facilitating human resources development. China will help African countries to become more independent and promote the industrial development of African countries. China will help African countries pave the way for African regional integration and improve their ability to fight the epidemic, and improve the well-being of the Chinese and African people.

Yang Jiechi said

China will accelerate the construction of a new development pattern, build a new open economic system at a higher level, create an attractive business environment, achieve a higher level of mutual benefit and win-win with all countries around the world, and open up broader space for China-Africa cooperation.

Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda, Macky Sall, President of Senegal, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of Algeria, and other African dignitaries said that Africa and China share the same destiny. The African side is ready to work with China and contribute to the Belt and Road Initiative, implement the Initiative on Partnership for Africa’s Development, and take Africa-China cooperation to a new level.
