Announcement of Implementing Requirements of adjusted Standard of ChinaVI Emission for Light-duty Vehicles

To implement the requirements of the Limits and Measurement Methods for Emissions from Light-duty Vehicles (China VI) (GB 18352.6-2016), and the recent policies on stabilizing and expanding automobile consumption, hereby is an adjusted standard of China VI emission for light-duty vehicles:

I. Beginning on July 1, 2020, the China VI emission standard for light-duty vehicles shall be implemented nationwide, the light-duty vehicles to which China V emission standard applies shall be prohibited from production, and imported light-duty vehicles shall comply the China VI emission standard.

An additional six-month transitional sale period  shall be given to the light-duty vehicles to which China V emission standard applies, produced (subject to the date when the Certificate of Conformity for a motor vehicle is uploaded) and imported (subject to the “date of arrival” endorsed on an Import Certificate of Goods) before July 1, 2020. Before January 1, 2021, such vehicles are allowed to be sold and registered in regions where the China VI emission standard has not been implemented (all regions in Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, Tibet, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, Xinjiang and other provinces, as well as regions other than those where the China VI emission standard has been implemented according to public announcements in Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Sichuan, Shaanxi and other provinces) across the country.

II. The expiration date of the transition period in respect of the particle number (PN) limit of 6.0 ×1012 units/km under the China VI emission standard for light-duty vehicles has been changed from July 1, 2020, to January 1, 2021. Beginning on January 1, 2021, the PN limit of all the light-duty vehicles to which China VI emission standard applies, produced and imported shall all meet the requirement of 6.0×1011 units/km.

III. All the relevant parties, automobile production and import enterprises which are responsible for the management of environmental protection and production consistency,  shall all, in accordance with the Atmospheric Pollution Prevention and Control Law of the People's Republic of China and relevant provisions, publicly disclose the information of vehicle emission inspection and the information on pollution control technologies before products leave factories or goods enter China to ensure that the vehicles produced and imported meet the emission standards and requirements.
