Zero-tariff treatment for 43 LDCs to boost African product imports in Hunan

According to an announcement from the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council of the PRC, starting from December 1st, 2024, China will implement zero-tariff treatment for 100 percent of tariff lines on products originating from all least-developed countries (LDCs) with which it maintains diplomatic relations.

A total of 43 LDCs will benefit from this preferential policy, including 33 in Africa, 8 in Asia, and 2 in Oceania.

According to statistics from Changsha Customs, in recent years, from January to October this year, Changsha Customs processed 1,157 preferential customs declarations for imports from LDCs, an increase of 62.96%, with tariff reductions totaling 25.4575 million CNY, up by 89.15%. Among these, 653 declarations were for imports from African countries, representing a 127% increase, with tariff concessions amounting to 16.7756 million CNY, up by 162%. The main preferential products are sesame seeds from Tanzania, Burkina Faso and Togo, as well as mica flakes from Madagascar. (By Tian Lidan, Lin Jun)
