On January 27, a shipment of 2.4 metric tons of raw Rwanda coffee beans arrived at Changsha Airport Port via a cargo flight from Addis Ababa. Following inspection and clearance by Changsha Huanghua Airport Customs, the consignment successfully cleared customs. In accordance with China's policy of granting zero-tariff treatment to 100 percent of tariff lines for products originating from least developed countries (LDCs) that have diplomatic relations with China, the import duty rate for this batch of coffee beans was reduced from 8 percent to zero, enabling the enterprise to enjoy a tax reduction of more than 12,000 yuan.
The raw coffee beans will be transported to the Hunan (Changsha) Coffee Industrial Park within the the Changsha Huanghua Comprehensive Bonded Zone for deep processing, including roasting, before entering the domestic market for sale. This marks the first time that Rwanda coffee beans have been imported through a Hunan port, and it also represents a significant step forward for the Hunan (Changsha) Coffee Industrial Park in expanding direct sourcing channels for African coffee and improving the layout of the entire coffee industry chain.
According to the importer, Hunan Yanzhi International Trade Co., Ltd., the coffee beans are sourced from high-quality coffee-producing regions in Rwanda. As an important coffee-producing country in Africa, Rwandan coffee is renowned in the international market for its unique fruity aroma and excellent quality. In 2025, Rwanda’s coffee export revenue reached nearly 150 million US dollars, setting a historical record. Leveraging the stable China-Africa cargo route advantages of Changsha Airport Port, the company plans to further expand import volumes in the future.
