Hunan-Africa Trade Volume Ranks First in Central and Western China for Seven Consecutive Years

According to a press conference on Hunan’s foreign trade held on January 21, Hunan Province continued to advance market diversification in 2025, with its trade network covering most parts of the world and recording import and export growth with 118 countries and regions.

Among these, trade with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) amounted to 320.08 billion CNY, accounting for 59.1 percent of the province's total import and export value—an increase of 2.5 percentage points from 2024.

Hunan’s imports and exports with emerging markets including ASEAN, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East grew by 2.8 percent, 6.6 percent, 5.8 percent, and 2.4 percent year-on-year, reaching 101.27 billion CNY, 65.82 billion CNY, 58 billion CNY, and 33.3 billion CNY, respectively. Collectively, these markets contributed two percentage points to the province’s overall foreign trade growth.

Hunan’s imports and exports with African countries reached 58 billion CNY in 2025, hitting a record high. The province has ranked first among central and western regions of China in trade with Africa for seven consecutive years, with annual trade volume exceeding 50 billion CNY for four straight years.
